Trigger Points
Trigger points are the smallest knots and thickenings in the muscle tissue. The daily demands, the often one-sided posture, the frequent lack of exercise can lead to a diminished blood supply in the deeper muscle fibers. The resulting pain can occur and be felt at the location of the pain point (trigger point), but also in completely different regions. Injuries in general, inflammations, joint blockages, sleepless or restless nights with additional everyday restrictions and even immobility are inevitable consequences. This restricted movement conducts to the formation of further trigger points forming an eternal, never-ending cycle. Since the muscles are surrounded by fascia, they are also referred to as myofascial (myo=muscle) trigger points or myofascial pain syndrome.
