Craniosacral System
The craniosacral system is a separate, self-contained system that extends from the skull (cranium) to the sacral bone. It also includes the meninges of the brain and spinal cord, the spine, the central nervous system and the connected fascia . The cerebrospinal fluid also flows within this system, carrying essential nutrients from the blood into the nerve tissue and also acting as a shock absorber to protect against impacts. The central nervous system controls our physical and emotional state. This entire system relies on the unimpeded rhythmic flow of cerebrospinal fluid. This is called the craniosacral rhythm and can be felt. However, if this rhythm is disrupted by certain life influences, sleep problems, exhaustion, stress-related or psychosomatic complaints, chronic pain or many other symptoms can become noticeable.
